While colouring a few strands of grey hair, I was just looking in the mirror at myself and regretted for neglecting myself when self-care is the best care. A woman is not just a woman as she represents her divine mother, Maa Durga. Each and every woman should find out that inner Durga within her. But, the problem is we hardly realise it. Just like Maa Durga, women are powerful, courageous, strong, determined, dedicated and incredible.
Like Maa Durga, a woman is synonymous with Shaanti (Peace) as she has a greater role in maintaining peace inside and outside the family and peace within. She is Shakti (Power) as woman power is the highest form of power, Mukti (she is the way to freedom), Smriti (Memory) as a woman has the capability to keep the memories alive, she exists and carries with her all the memories; Jaati (a woman is the creator as she gives birth to a child and original cause of this existence), a woman is full of Bhakti (Devotion) and possesses highest form of devotion. A woman is the other name of Kaanti (Beauty) as a she is the true goddess of beauty, elegance with her inner qualities and values, Vritti (activity), a woman exists with various skills, activities, she is multi-tasking and plays a number of roles being a daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. A woman is Bhraanti (it means she exists in the form of Delusion), she is Laxmi (as a woman is like goddess Laxmi who brings love, luck, peace, happiness and good fortune wherever she goes), she is Kshaanti (Forbearance), Tushtti (Contentment), Shraddhaa (she exists in the form of Faith), Chetana (Consciousness) as she is the reflection of consciousness, Buddhi (Intelligence), a woman is full of skills, ideas and knowledge, Kssudhaa (Hunger), Trshnnaa (Thirst), Nidra (Sleep), a woman is Chhayaa (Shadow of her higher self) , Daya (Kindness), a woman with her kindness and honesty has the ability to conquer the whole world. A woman’s best identity is as Matru (Mother), Lajjaa (Modesty) is her greatest ornament. Hence, like Maa Durga, a woman is an epitome of love, strength, beauty, courage, patience, forgiveness, fearlessness, kindness, intelligence and everything. But, we the women are neglecting the inner Durga in us.
For the first few minutes, my mirror mocked at me for not taking much care of the inner Durga in me, but then suddenly, I could see a quick change in me as something happened inside me which turned me into a self-confident, strong and confident woman for few minutes. I widened my eyes, stretched my nose a bit and looked at myself as if taking a picture on zoom mode or taking a close selfie. It was a moment as if Maa Durga is saying me affectionately, “my dear daughter, look at yourself, as you are my daughter we have much similarities between us, it’s obvious that you are born with some of my qualities, and I am there in each and every daughter, every woman which you always keep ignoring.” My eyes got teary and then I realized that yes, I am like my divine mother and not only me, every woman is like Maa Durga. That particular moment gave me so much strength, enough power, courage and willpower.
I also started thinking that yes, I too have a few qualities of my mother. I am beautiful and I deserve to look beautiful with all the Srinagar (adornments) which means, I am looking beautiful and I have every right to wear good clothes, to wear ornaments, makeup so that I can feel confident, good enough which can invoke the confidence in me. Maa Durga has 10 arms to perform 10 powerful activities and with 2 hands Maa has blessed every woman to perform 20 activities at a time. Yes, without a woman, no family will run smoothly, with her 2 hands, she cooks, she cleans, she feeds and changes the diaper of her baby; she works on her laptop, smartphone, protects her family from all negativity, fights for them, she takes care of her family members, maintains strong relationship with friends and relatives and there are many more in the list. May be with her 2 hands, she perform 20 activities at a time.
Like Maa Durga, she is also fighting her own battle every moment to protect herself from the ego of this male dominated society, from different types of crime, ignorance, intolerance, discrimination and injustice by raising her voice. Every moment, she kills the Mahishasura, the demons in the form of injustice, dishonesty, cruelty. However, our mother has blessed us with more than 20 weapons like love, honesty, patience, kindness, beauty, courage, self confidence, strong willpower and many more. Hence, every woman is like her divine mother, Maa Durga. Around a time when the country is celebrating Durga puja, perhaps it’s the time that reminds us the worth of the girl child, the value of a woman. So, let’s see a part of Maa Durga in every woman.
